Circuit breaker
A circuit breaker prevents a failing dependency or retry loop from consuming resources indefinitely. Depending on the design, it may stop permanently or allow another attempt after a delay.
For example, a job processor can stop retrying a queue after five consecutive failures, wait briefly, and then test it again.
